However, in accordance with Sentence 9.10.1.3.(3), any basement that contains more than 1 storey is subject to Part 3. Thus, the second basement level is subject to Part 3, - Second basement level is still considered part of the single-family dwelling unit, as it is part of the building and serves the same occupants. Though it is governed by Part 3, it is not a separate building or separate occupancy/use, - Second basement level is classified to Article 3.2.2.15., - Provides 6 bedrooms, and this has an occupant load of 12. Per Article 3.2.2.15, the sub-basement must be sprinklered and will be protected with a sprinkler system.
