It is proposed to protect standpipe risers, in areas where there are space constraints, with CL4 Fire Red Wrap Insulation with the appropriate fire-resistance rating per the CCMC evaluation 14382-R which is an approved alternative to determining fire-resistance ratings in accordance with the NBC Div. B Part 3 Sentence 3.1.7.1(1).The proposed alternative solution is in lieu of protecting standpipe risers by locating them in exit stair shafts or service space separated from the adjacent floor area by a fire separation having a fire-resistance rating of 1-hour per Table 3.6.3.1 in accordance with the OBC Div.
